Brownfield properties are those in which the redevelopment or reuse of the property may be complicated by the presence or perception of contamination. Revitalizing and redeveloping these properties protects the environment, reuses existing infrastructure, minimizes urban sprawl and creates economic opportunities. The Brownfield Redevelopment Authority (BRA) is a function of the County Government, with administration being delegated to the Gladwin County EDC.
The Gladwin County EDC can also work in partnership with the State of Michigan EGLE to facilitate site assessments to determine eligibility for grants and loans, tax increment financing (TIF).
